The Triple Oxygen Isotope Record of Sedimentary Sulfate

∆17Ocycle.png

Ancient evaporated marine and lacustrine waters house a rich archive of atmospheric and seawater chemistry. I am actively looking at isotope ratios of oxygen (17O/16O, 18O/16O) and sulfur (33S/32S, 34S/32S, 36S/32S) within sulfate-bearing minerals to learn about the Proterozoic environment. Specifically I want to use these tools as probes into Proterozoic climate, and the productivity of the Proterozoic biosphere.
